Kim Johnson Literature Project #3 The War that Saved My Life by Kimberly Brubaker Bradley.
VIDEO SCRIPT: Good morning KMS. I am here to tell you about a wonderful book.
You know that a lot of books start out “Once upon a time” and end up with “And they lived happily ever after.” Well that is exactly this book.
Once upon a time, there was World War 2 and a little girl named Ada and a little boy named Jamie.
Ada was 9 years old and Jamie was about 6 years old. Ada has never left her one- room apartment.
Her mother is humiliated by Ada’s twisted foot and won’t let her go outside.
Her little brother Jamie is shipped out of London to escape the war, Ada doesn’t waste a minute.
She sneaks out and joins him.
So a new adventure begins for Jamie and Ada. They go to live with this woman named Susan Smith, who is really forced to take the two kids in. Ada teaches herself to ride a pony, learns how to read, and watches for German spies and at the same time, begins to trust Susan.
Susan begins to love Ada and Jamie.
Not only has the war saved Ada, it has saved Susan.
Read this great book to see how it saved Ada and Susan….
The Book is called The War that Saved My Life. The author is Kimberly Brubaker Bradley. The book is considered historical fiction. It won a Newbery Honor Award in 2016.
