Kennett Middle School had three students complete in the Regional Spelling Bee on Saturday, March 25, 2023 in Poplar Bluff. The Kennett School District is so very proud of their accomplishments. It is a great honor to be a participant.
The Regional Spelling Bee began at 10:00 a.m. There were 41 students from 21 school districts participating.
There were 8 spellers that did not participate; so there were 33 spellers to begin with.
In Round 2, there were 32 spellers remaining.
Shyler spelled domino; Kariel spelled cooperate; and Michaya spelled quantify.
With 27 students left on stage, Round 3 began.
Shyler misspelled skirmish by saying "scermish'.
Kariel spelled demonstrative.
Michaya misspelled petrifying by saying "petrafying."
Round 4 began with 18 spellers remaining.
Kariel spelled obediential.
Round 5 began with 9 spellers.
Kariel Roberts, 8th grade Kennett Middle School student, was in the Champion Round of Spellers.
She was given the word fructose to spell. She spelled it correctly.
In Round 6, there were 6 students remaining.
Kariel misspelled hexagonal by saying "hexagonial".
Kariel Roberts ended the competition in 6th place.
The Kennett School District is so very proud of all three of our students! While most students were probably home asleep in their beds enjoying their first day of spring break, they were on the stage competing and spelling! Congratulations to both of them. They are winners in our school district!
Thank you to Three Rivers Community College for hosting and sponsoring the Regional Spelling Bee!
